Spring has sprung around here and it has me filling our home with fresh flowers, lemon water, and seasonal scents. Just like the beginning of every month makes me feel excited, a new season brings new opportunity. Coming out of one of the strangest winters we’ve had in many years, I felt so motivated to hit the “refresh” button for both my mind and body.
I made a simple list of little things that I can commit to doing that will influence a healthy lifestyle without being overwhelming. How many can you commit to doing?
Wake Up With The Sun
Growing up, I’ve always been the morning person. I love waking up with the sun, being one of the first to take on the new day, and embracing everything ahead of me.
BUT. Even I can have a hard time actually getting up out of bed.
I’ve had to make it a true routine to set my alarm and get up when it goes off. To wake up my body, I love getting in my workout first thing in the morning. After a winter of sleeping in, lack of exercise, and too many comfort foods, Spring has become the best motivation for being kind to my body. Sometimes, I knock out the hard workout first thing in the morning, but it hasn’t always been that way. For me, it’s all about convincing myself to do 20 minutes in the morning. Whether it’s 20 minutes of walking, a 20 minute yoga session, or 20 minutes of a HIIT workout, I can convince myself to do it.
With the longer days and a new season, try taking advantage of the extra sunshine and set your alarm a little earlier for a few weeks to create the new habit. When you start your day off on the right foot, it sets the tone.
Upgrade Your Shower Products With Mrs. Meyer’s® Body Wash
When we spend so much time working hard to make our body healthy inside and out, why wouldn’t we want to spoil ourselves right at home? If you’re conscious about what you put inside your body, don’t you think it needs to be the same with what you put on your body? A simple shower upgrade, like using Mrs. Meyer’s® Body Wash, can be the best start (or end) to any day.
As we transitioned into Spring, I started spoiling myself with the new Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash. Available at Target, the soothing and refreshing scent feels like a dose of pure happiness in the shower. Better yet, I get to feel really good about lathering myself up in a product that’s thoughtfully formulated and made with essential oils. Never tested on animals and packaged in recyclable bottles, Mrs. Meyer’s® brand continues to impress me with their high standards for quality products.
So whether you’re getting your day started or ending it in the shower, Mrs. Meyer’s® body wash or bar soap will make you feel fresh and clean. You’ll feel like you’re hitting the “refresh” button every time you get in the shower. Upgrading your products can be a small investment that will make the transition into the new season that much easier!
Reduce The Clutter
Let’s start with the physical clutter. It’s time for some Spring donations! I’m totally guilty of holding onto items I “might” need or use one day. My closet, in particular, can get overwhelmingly full during the winter season. With every scarf, cardigan, and jacket I own stuffed onto shelves and hangers, I realized my closet was totally overflowing. It got to the point that I was feeling stressed just walking into my closet. So, I decided it was time to reduce the clutter. I donated over 100 pieces of clothing and I’m obsessed with the clean and organized vibes of the closet now.
Cleaning out your makeup and toiletry items is another way to feel refreshed. Eliminating old mascara, throwing out nail polish that has separated, and getting rid of the foundation that never really matched your skin tone anyway, is a great way to reduce the unnecessary “extras” that are taking up space.
Once you’ve gone through your home and dropped off your Spring cleaning donations, focus on the clutter in your mind. Find ways to reduce the noise in your head and start a new routine or switch up your current one. I’m very new to meditation, but when I stick with it I feel like a different person. Taking care of my thoughts, focusing on my inner-dialogue, and even listening to a new soundtrack is all part of nourishing my mind.
Find what works for you. The new season is the perfect opportunity to try something different while catering to your needs.
Set Daily Affirmations
Reducing the clutter from your mind allows room for bigger and better thoughts to occupy it. I’ve, personally, seen a difference in my attitude and motivation when I set daily or weekly affirmations.
Leave an encouraging note on a post-it in your planner, write compliments to yourself with a dry-erase marker on your mirror, or change the background on your phone to a quote that inspires you. Whatever you choose to do, make sure the affirmations resonate with you. Repeat them. Convince yourself that the words are the truest part of your day. Because, after all, what we think about it is what becomes. And aren’t we all just really searching for our best-self?
Tell me one way you switch things up during a new season to hit the “refresh” button for your mind and body!
