Hola, amigos! This post was supposed to go up last weekend, but #life. So by the time you’re reading this, I should hopefully have my butt in a hammock with a drink in my hand in Mexico. I’m going to do my best to turn off during this vacay. Being a travel blogger makes that tricky, but I’ve also found a balance of capturing content on trips, uploading Instagram Stories later – rather than in the moment – and giving myself permission to not always be in the loop.
When I started this little series last month, I committed to publishing the first weekend of every month. Um, yeah, where did April go?! Regardless, I’m just really excited to write my Wine Not Weekend Chats. It’s giving myself permission to talk about anything and everything that comes to mind. It’s the stuff that just flows onto the keyboard and I don’t really take the time to care how perfectly curated it all is. I feel liberated. If you’re a blogger, start your own series that allows you to just be you. That’s what this is for me, and I hope it lets you peek behind the laptop a little more while opening up some conversation. So! Here we go with our second Wine Not Weekend Chat!
What I’m Sipping On:
Again, hopefully, I have a margarita in my hand while you’re reading this, but this is the Wine Not Weekend Chat so I’m always going to start with a good little wine. In honor of Vanderpump Rules season finale and reunions, I’m diving into another bottle of Witches of Weho. Basic Witch Potion #1 is a Pinot Grigio created by the bad bitches of Weho themselves, Stassi Schroeder, Katie Maloney, and Kristen Doute. It’s super easy to drink, light, refreshing, and a great springtime wine. It’s the kind of wine you could give just about anyone and they’ll be happy with it. It just makes sense that the three of them make a crowd-pleasing wine, and I’m here for it.
The sad news is that you can only purchase it through Nocking Point Wines and they’re sold out now. I have 2 bottles remaining in my wine fridge and I probably won’t be sharing. 😜
Speaking of Vanderpump Rules, Stassi Schroeder’s new book, Next Level Basic, came out in April and it’s everything you’d expect from the outspoken, opinionated, and real reality star. It seems like I’ve only been able to read when I’m on a plane lately, so I’m hoping to finish this one by the pool in Mexico. What are you currently reading?
West Coast, Best Coast?
I’m an east coast girl so you may never catch me saying “west coast, best coast” (never say never though, amiright) but I have to say, my recent trip to California was pretty epic. In one week, I got to experience the desert, the beach, and Disneyland. I got to see cacti and climb rocks in Joshua Tree National Park, sip on watermelon margaritas at a pool party, run along the beach, catch the sunset, and ride Guardians of the Galaxy. As far as a versatile vacation goes, California kinda has it all. I had an amazing time and plan on writing up my full itinerary soon. Stay tuned.
And for those of you that just can’t handle not knowing, yes, I got to see my childhood best friend and her son, Ethan, for a lunch date. 😊 It was wonderful.
Are you an east coast or west coast fan?!
A few months ago I saw a therapist for the first time in my life and it was terrible. I left feeling worse than ever and just kind of helpless. I recently decided to give it another try and I am so happy that I did. My new therapist has given me a space to talk about all the things that I think make me crazy (spoiler: she says I’m not crazy – yay!) and it’s made me realize that the world would be a much better place if everyone had a therapist. Ok, I’m only a couple of sessions in, but so far, it’s a game-changer. I look forward to it and I’m not ashamed to tell the world. Being vulnerable allows me to feel feelings that I didn’t even know existed. Have you been to counseling or a therapist before? If not, is it something you’d want to try out sometime?
Knocking Things Off My 30 Before 30 List:
Since writing my Last Minute 30 Before 30 Bucket List, I’ve crossed off several of the items and it just makes me plain giddy inside. My favorite? Flying first class from LAX to MCO. I tweeted that I saw Josh Hutcherson (Peta from Hunger Games) in the airport and I totally smiled (I winked, too, like who the f do I think I am) at him. Oh, but wait. Then he got right behind me in line to board the plane and I couldn’t get myself to say hi or anything. 🤦🤦🤦 Have you had a celeb spotting?! Tell me about it!
Leaving You With a Little Inspiration:
I told you in last month’s Wine Not Weekend Chat that I’ve been a total quote whore on Instagram and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. My explore page on the gram is filled with inspirational, motivational, wanderlusting, loving quotes that kickstart my day. Lately, if I catch myself just mindlessly scrolling, it’s through positive affirmations and inspiring words. It’s changed my relationship with Instagram for the better. Drop the handle to one of your favorite Instagram accounts in the comments! 🖤
